Under pressure from Aso Rock, south-east governors proscribe IPOB
South-east governors rose from an emergency meeting in Enugu on Friday and announced a ban on all the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in their geo-political zone.
The defence headquarters had declared IPOB “a militant terror group” earlier on Friday.
TheCable understands that the governors were acting on a presidential directive as a pre-condition to reduce military presence in the region.
There were hot arguments at the meeting over the appropriateness of the governors succumbing to a directive from Abuja, insiders informed TheCable.
The governors had been accused of tacitly supporting IPOB.
The launch of Operation Python Dance II has raised tension in the south-east, leading to reported deaths in Aba, Abia state, and disruption to economic activities.
In the communique, shared with TheCable, the governors asked the leadership of IPOB and all other aggrieved groups to make their positions on all national issues and submit to the committee of governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo, and the members of the national assembly from the zone through the chairman of the south-east governors forum.
Legal experts told TheCable that the proscription may just be an academic exercise.
“IPOB is not a registered organisation, has no legal basis for existence and cannot be logically proscribed. You can only proscribe what operates legally,” a senior advocate of Nigeria told TheCable.

Zimbabwean Man's Testicle Explodes, Dies After Sex Session With Married Woman
A BULAWAYO woman claims her brother died because he slept with a fenced woman.
Patience Ndlovu told B-Metro that her brother Ndodana’s testicles swelled up like a balloon before they exploded and he died in the process.
“I used to hear that men fence their women but I did not believe that it was actually possible.
My brother died complaining that he was experiencing pain on his privates and he briefly highlighted that he might have slept with a fenced woman but he did not know who exactly as he had many sexual partners. When they exploded that was the end of him,” said Patience.
However, there is one man who is said to have been calling Ndodana telling him to stay away from his wife (name supplied) as there would be fatal consequences if he continued with the affair.
According to a neighbour to the late, Ndodana had been in a relationship with the named woman and some people in the area suggested that he had fathered her two children.
It is reported that despite all these warnings Ncube continued to enjoy the forbidden fruit that was not his.
In her defence the woman said neighbours wanted to destroy her marriage because they were jealous of her beautiful home.
“Who told you this? My children are now being dragged into this issue, it’s very sad that my neighbours want to see my children fatherless. I did not have an affair with him. He was a family friend,“ she said.

"Meet With Nnamdi Kanu" - Obasanjo Tells Buhari
Obasanjo said this during an interview with Newsweek Magazine.
Ironically, Kanu, had in the past called Obasanjo an “evil man”.
The former President said, “I don’t see anything wrong in that (Buhari meeting with Kanu). I would not object to that; if anything, I would encourage it.
“I would want to meet Kanu myself and talk to people like him, people of his age, (and ask) ‘What are your worries?’ Not only from the South-East but from all parts of Nigeria.”
Obasanjo, who led the final offensive that brought the civil war to an end in 1970, said he had seen too many wars and it was time for Nigeria to move on.
He said he believed that enough dialogue had not been done by both the government and several groups.
The former President, however, said secession was not the answer.
“Those who fought in the war in Biafra will not want to fight any other war. I fought in that war and it was an unfortunate war and I said I have fought one war too many in Nigeria; I don’t want to see another.
“The heavy boot is not the solution. I believe also whatever may be the frustration of any youth in any part of Nigeria; I believe secession is not the solution.”
The former president, who was also military head of state from 1976–1979, said economic development in the country was the only way to solve the various agitations across the country.
Some Igbo leaders have complained that President Buhari, who hails from northern Nigeria, has prioritized the development of other parts of the country to their detriment.
“We need to satisfy the youth in job creation, in wealth creation, in giving them a better, fulfilled life, in giving them hope for the future. There’s no easy way out,” he said.
Steps Involved In Writing A Good Blog Post
One quality of a good blog is a good topic. A blog post is sometimes
what determine the readers durability on your blog or website. Choosing a
topic to write on is the first and foremost step to take. After
deciding which topic to write on, you can then proceed to the following
steps.
Note: Don't use freehost. there are many reason Why You Should Not Use a Free Hosting For Your Blog and topics you chose to write on should be related to your blog's niche.
Here are the steps involved in writing a good topic:
Researching on the topic
The topic chosen by you must be well researched on. This is an essential part of writing a good content.
The impression you are trying to make here is to let your readers see you as an expert, which is why you need research to gather your facts, ideas and examples. Research shouldn't take much time if you know what you are looking for and how to look for it . You can use search engines to research your blog post. Amazon can also be of help, as i heard its one of the best for researching blog post niche.
The title of the topic
The title of your topic must be very short, attractive and related to the subject matter or the content. "keep the title short and on topic" . Some post have a good content but the title is either off topic or too long.
Using this post as an example, i can draft out at least 3 suitable titles;
* Five steps needed when writing a good topic
* How to write a good topic for your blog
* Steps involved in writing a good blog content
The content
Having found the suitable title for your article/post, and after doing enough research, the next step is to write on your subject matter based on what you have researched. This is where the real work comes in. The subject matter (content) should be well explanatory, so your readers can understand easily.
The content should also contain images, videos or other ways of visual representation (if necessary) for better understanding.
You can also include relevant or related links at the middle of the content.
Remember! that you are not the first and won't be the last that will write on that topic, which is why you have to make your content unique (different from what others have written).
TIP: Content sometimes determine the durability of readers on your blog
Visual representation
The use of images, videos etc helps readers a lot. Some explanation are better done visually. When writing your content, don't forget to include necessary images/screenshots related to the information you are trying to pass across to the readers. The use of visual representation make readers quickly assimilate and recollect because some readers in our century can hardly memorize two or three lines of written text but can summarize a season film without watching it twice.
TIP: You can also make tutorial videos(if necessary)
Proof Reading
After you're done writing your content, you should proof read it as many times as possible to correct mistakes that might have occurred.
If you are not that good at proof reading, you can hire a proof reader or you can pass it to two or three friends of yours to proof read it for you.

Kwame Bonsu Jailed For Raping And Assaulting His Wife
The Gävle District Court also disclosed that 22-year-old Kwame Bonsu, who plays for Gefle IF club, will be expelled from the Scandinavian country where he has lived since 2013.
His club Gefle on Friday also said Bonsu was dismissed from the team with immediate effect. According to court documents seen by The Local he will also have to pay 122,600 kronor ($14,000) in compensation to his wife, who is a Swedish national. He first met her in 2014 when he was playing in the southern Swedish city of Mjölby.
They married the following year. A few months after the wedding he signed a transfer to the town of Gävle, located about 300 kilometres away from Mjölby. Bonsu's wife had wanted him to stay to continue his studies.
The victim said the rape and beatings took place in the couple's apartment during an evening in November 2015 when he had refused to let her out. Bonsu repeatedly denied the charges, but testimony from his wife's relatives led the court to believe the victim's version of events. His lawyer has appealed the sentence.
Entrepreneurs: Tips On How To Deliver A Pitch Investors Can't Turn Down
Many of you asked me this week to say a bit more about “pitching,” including what the word really means. For an entrepreneur, a “pitch” is what you say and present to potential investors to market yourself, your idea and your business concept — not just to inspire them to invest, but to rush to be first in the queue!
Today though, in response to your requests, let me share the first of three parts of an excellent article from Entrepreneur magazine, written by Neil Patel, a young entrepreneur who gave me permission to republish it (remember the importance of intellectual property). It’s called: “13 Tips on How to Deliver a Pitch Investors Simply Can’t Turn Down.” Today I’ll share #1 thru #4.
It’s going to be decided by the PREPARATIONS you make in the months and weeks leading up to that pitch.
In his article, Neil writes:
“Your pitch is the single thing that could either get your business off the ground or plunge your idea into eternal oblivion. It matters.
The rule of thumb for investors is that for every 100 investments they make, only 10 will go big.
Let me take that rule of thumb a step further. For every 1,000 pitches an investor hears, he or she will fund only 100 of them. Statistically, the odds for success are not great. You can beat the statistics, however, by crafting a pitch that turns heads and gets funded.
What are the ingredients of an ultra-compelling, irresistible, outstanding, and unforgettable pitch?
1. Take only ten minutes.
Timing is critical. The less time your pitch takes, the better.
A brilliant idea means nothing unless you can distill it to a few moments of sheer power. The more concise you can be, the more effective you will be. Here are a few timing pointers:
# If you say that you’ll take “only X minutes,” then take at least one minute less.
# If you are told, “You only have X minutes to pitch,” then take at least five minutes less.
# If you say, “One last thing” or something similar, then make sure it’s truly the one last thing.
# Move at a good pace. Don’t rush at the end.
# If you’re using slides, don’t get stuck on one slide for more than three minutes.
Here’s the great thing about taking ten minutes. If the investors are really interested, they’ll ask questions. If they’re not interested, then you will have saved them (and yourself) some time.
2. Turn your pitch into a story.
Storytelling is a scientifically-proven way to capture a listener’s attention and hold it. Besides, it makes your pitch unforgettable.
Investors are bored with spreadsheets, valuations and numbers. If they want that information, they can get it. What you can offer that no term sheet can convey is the story and pathos behind your startup. Everyone loves a good story, even the most data-driven investor.
So, tell your story and tell it right. You’re bound to gain attention, and the funding will follow.
3. Be laser-focused.
Investors’ time is their most valuable asset. If you convey a respect for their time, they will interpret that respect as your ability to treat their funding with respect.
Because time is important, you need to develop an absolute focus on the core components of your pitch. What are those core components? They’re detailed in the following tips.
4. Explain EXACTLY what your product or service is.
Show your potential investors a picture of, or give them the actual product to handle.
Be careful not to drone endlessly on about your product. Honestly, investors don’t really care about your product as much as they care about the money that your product will make. The sooner you get to the good stuff — the money.

Arewa Group Insists Igbos Must Leave Northern Nigeria, Despite Condemnation
The group, a coalition of some northern groups, insisted on its stance that Igbos leave the 19 northern states within three months.
One of the leaders of the group, who read their declaration on Tuesday, Abdulaziz Suleiman, said they held a meeting in Kaduna on Wednesday after the threat of arrest and decided that “there will be no retreat, no surrender”.
Mr. Abdulaziz, the National Coordinator of Northern Emancipation Network, NEN, informed PREMIUM TIMES over the telephone on Wednesday evening that contrary to the position by Kaduna State government, they are not advocating violence.
“Our declaration did not mention violence at all. The Igbo have consistently insisted that they don’t want to be in Nigeria, let them therefore, go back to their places “They don’t believe in Nigeria, so, we also don’t believe in them,” he said.
Mr. Suleiman also accused Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State of playing politics over the matter.
“Where was El Rufai when the Igbos gave the Fulani ultimatum to leave their areas?
“Where was he when over 500 northerners were killed in Ile Ife? These people just politicise everything.
“Because he wants to run for President, he chose to ignore his people and appease the Igbo? Goodluck to him,” he said.
Like Mr. El-Rufai, the Nigerian government has also condemned the call by the northern coalition, assuring Nigerians that the threat by the group should be ignored.
“It is not new, but what I want to assure you is that the security agencies are on top of the situation,” the information minister, Lai Mohammed, said.
The call by the Northern group has also been condemned by Nigerians across ethnic and political divide, as well as Igbo groups like MASSOB and the Ohaneze Ndigbo with the latter cautioning Igbos in South-east Nigeria not to retaliate with a similar call.
Ethnic Tensions : Please Tolerate Each Other - Saraki
Saraki spoke when the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, led by its Chairman, Rev. Yakubu Pam, visited him at the National Assembly in Abuja.
In statement by his Special Assistant on Print Media, Chuks Okocha, the Senate President said: "Let me through you appeal to all our people for tolerance and understanding. I want to appeal that we preach tolerance. I believe that it is our responsibility as leaders, to impress on our people to be very tolerant and let us seek unity.
"We also wish to appeal to everybody that we should in our speeches and actions work for the unity of the country, because you made reference to some of the issues but this is not about who is right or who is wrong, we should always ask ourselves that what can we do to unite our people and mend the fault lines.
"This is very important. I am hopeful, that we are only going through these challenges because of the state of our economy and I believe by the time the economic recovery plan of the present administration begins to yield fruits, some of these issues will fizzle out," Saraki said.
On the economy, Saraki said: "I believe by the time we address the economy, by the time we get the economy right, it will eliminate all these tension. Until we get there, we must make sure that we have a country where we are all working together.
"Let me assure you that things that are of concern to you are also of concern to us. And the 8th Senate has shown that in most of our deliberations, we put Nigeria first. The challenges we have in Nigeria are not selective as to which part of the country a person comes from.
"The economic challenges do not discriminate against Muslims or Christians, nor do they favour Northerners against Southerners. I think with that, there are lessons. The economic hardship affect all of us and we must unite to jointly eliminate those challenges.
"However, we should not lose faith because as religious leaders your disposition affect will affect your followers. You must have faith that this country belongs to all of us. We all have rights. We will ensure that we respect that. We must have faith that this country will continue to grow from strength to strength. I plead for your understanding and tolerance," he said.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Rev. Pam, expressed concern over the series of agitations by some interest groups who are calling for restructuring and raising allegations of marginalization.
"I heard this morning that some people are asking some people to leave the Northern part of the country. This kind of comments and utterances should not be encouraged," he said.
He further said, "To us, the hour has come for government to take a second look at the causes of these agitations so that all sides can be given a sense of belonging in the scheme of things in the country. We need all hands to be joined together to move this country forward."
On the frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers, Rev. Pam said, "Cattle rearing is a private business and as such herders should be educated on the modern way of handling their cattle rearing business so that their cattle should not be let loose into farms of the locals in different parts of the country in order to put an end to frequent clashes between the herdsmen and the local farmers".
The Northern CAN President called on the National Assembly to pass a law that would guarantee freedom of worship for all faiths and re-introduction of religious education in the school curriculum, even as he appealed to the that the Senate to intervene to stop attacks on places of worship in some parts of the Northern states.
He also lamented the incidence of forced marriages against under aged girls, saying, "We want to make an appeal that the Senate should look into this social problem so that it would not lead to break down of law and order in some parts of the country especially from those considered to be victims of this social malaise," he said.

10 Habits That Makes You Age Faster
Alcohol is a known diuretic meaning when you take it
in excess it causes dehydration. Dehydration decreases the skin natural
moisture, which automatically makes you look pale and older than your age
Excess alcohol intake also depletes important nutrients especially vitamins A and C. These two vitamins are essential for maintaining vibrant and supple skin.
In addition, excessive alcohol intake also triggers rosacea outbreaks. Studies also show that high alcohol intake is associated with skin cancer.
A 2014 study published in Cancer Causes and Control reveals that high intake of alcohol, high intake of white wine or liquor were associated with increased risk of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer (1).
However, this does not imply you cannot enjoy having a drink, just drink in moderation or occasionally.
2. Smoking
Habits That Makes You Age Faster
It is a known fact that smoking is linked to heart disease, infertility, bladder cancer, high blood pressure and lung cancer, but if none of this motivates you to ditch this habit, maybe vanity will.
Smoking is also known to accelerate aging process of the skin.
The toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke deprive your skin cells of oxygen, which leads to paleness, uneven coloring. It even stimulates the breakdown of collagen and cause loose and saggy skin.
A 2007 study published in the Journal of Dermatological science reveals that smoking tobacco accelerates skin aging. So if you are so much concerned about your physical appearance, you should quit smoking (2).
Another study in 2013 published in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery shows the facial changes caused by smoking between smoking and nonsmoking identical twins (3).
Whether you smoke or you spend time with a smoker, the smoke from cigarette is bad for your skin’s health.
By giving up on smoking and avoiding second hand smoke, you can restore your skin’s health and avoid premature aging
A 2010 study published in SKINmed Journal reveals that giving up on smoking rejuvenate skin conditions and skin-aging effects (4).
3. Stress
Habits That Makes You Age Faster
Stress, anxiety and constant worry takes a toll on your skin.
A 2012 study reveals that job-related stress can cause a harmful effect on DNA in your cells (5).
In another scenario, have you noticed that when you frown a lot you are feeling stressed which is not good for your appearance?
Over time, your facial muscle actually twitches and conforms to that movement. The ultimate result is wrinkles on the forehead which makes you look much older than your age.
As mentioned above, stress plays a vital role in initiating cascade of events that cause skin aging at the cellular level.
Stress accelerates the breakdown of collagen, DNA damage and also promotes the release of pro-inflammatory mediators (cytokines), which trigger premature aging.
A 2014 study published in Inflammation Allergy and Drug Targets reveals brain-skin connection and how the skin reacts to the stress level by activating the endocrine and immune systems, and the negative impact of chronic stress on skin’s health (6).
In addition, stress is also a risk factor for several chronic diseases including hypertension, obesity and cardiovascular disease
You cannot totally eliminate stress, but you can manage it and reduce its effect.
4. Too Little Sleep
Normally an adult needs at least 7 hours of sleep every night, and just one night of bad sleep can make you look and feel tired.
Bad sleep can even lead to dark circles and bags under your eyes. Now imagine what little or no sleep over a couple of days can do to your skin appearance.
Depriving yourself of sleep could cause skin damage in several ways.
First, it could increase your cortisol level, which can worsen inflammatory conditions.
Second, it can cause improper collagen formation, leading to skin aging.
A 2013 study by the University Hospitals Case Medical Center reveals that sleep quality has a direct impact on skin function and aging (7).
This study reveals that poor sleepers had increased signs of skin aging and slower recovery from several environmental stressors, such as UV radiation or disruption of the skin barrier.
Burning the midnight oil can be fun, but the effect is that it makes you look older than your age.
Importantly, avoid sleeping too long on one side of your face, as it could cause wrinkles and sleep lines.
5. Sunbathing
No matter how amazing the sun feels on your body, sunbathing or tanning is one of the worst things you can do for your skin.
Long-term exposure to excessive ultraviolet (UV) rays weakens your skin cells and blood vessels, which eventually causes a tanned, leathery looking skin. It can even lead to hyperpigmentation, reduced skin elasticity and degradation of skin texture, making your skin susceptible to bruising.
In addition, the risk of skin cancer is significantly higher due to excessive sun exposure.
Excessive UV exposure is likely to be responsible for signs of facial aging according to a study published in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology Journal (
.
To make sure you protect your skin against exceccive sun exposure, protect your skin by wearing a hat, covering up with clothing and using sunscreen that is broad-spectrum, SPF 30 (or higher).
Also, remember to reapply sunscreen throughout the year especially on those hot summer days when you are constantly in and out of the pool.
However, if you have a sun-damaged skin, consult a doctor for proper examination.
6. Sedentary Lifestyle
Instead of being inactive and increasing your risk of obesity and other health problems, make exercise a part of your daily life.
Exercise helps tone your muscle and for proper blood flow to your skin, providing the necessary nutrients to the skin cells.
This makes you have a radiating and supple skin.
Exercise also helps combat heart disease, keeps stress at bay, fights brain fog, reduces inflammation, and prevents other chronic diseases that crop up with age.
Get out of your comfort zone and get moving. The American College of Sports Medicine guidelines recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week (9).
You can start with the activities you enjoy the most – walking, swimming, jogging, cycling, dancing etc.
7. Holding Grudges
In case you never knew, unforgiveness can make you age faster than you think.
Although most of us believes in forgiveness but we rarely practice it. Holding grudges against any one at any point in time is not good for your health and appearance.
Your inability to forgive adds more stress to your life which boosts your level of cortisol. Cortisol is a steroid hormone that leads to weight gain, hypertension and high blood sugar.
As mentioned earlier, stress leads to more frowning one of the key causes of wrinkles in the forehead.
A 2005 study published in the Journal of Behavioral Medicine reveals a correlation between unforgiveness and reduction in stress (10).
Stress has been implicated in various health problems and also contributes to aging.
Don’t allow grudges ruin your youthfulness. Forgiveness should be your watchword for better mental and physical well-being.
8. Feeding On Sugar
Habits That Makes You Age Faster
A sugar-packed diet is a one way ticket to obesity. Also, it can accelerate the skin-aging process and can also make your skin dull and wrinkled.
How does this happen?
There is a process known as glycation, in which sugar molecule attaches to and damage proteins like collagen and elastin. These proteins (elastin and collagen) are important to keep skin flexible and smooth.
A 2009 study published in PLoS Genetics shows a correlation between an increase in age-related diseases and over-consumption of sugar (11).
It is worthy of note that sugary drinks can lead to obesity, diabetes and heart attacks.
According to a 2014 study published in the American Journal of Public Health, consumption of sugary sodas may accelerate aging process (12).
Eliminating sugar from your diet is not an easy task especially if you have a sweet tooth.
However, you can try to avoid refined sugar and opt for natural fruits to satisfy your cravings.
Better still, you can try out dark chocolate, which is good for the health due to its high antioxidant content.
9. Eating Unhealthy Food
It is a known fact that food has a direct impact on how the skin looks and the overall health of the body.
You really need to pay great attention to your diet if you wish to delay your aging process.
Inflammatory foods such as magarine, red meats, white bread, sugary and processed foods should be avoided, at least to the barest minimum. These foods may cause inflammation, which will ultimately accelerate aging.
You should embrace foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as flaxseeds, flaxseed oil, avocados, olive oil and salmon. These foods help combat inflammation to prevent chronic diseases and keep your skin radiating and supple.
You should also incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into your diets. Most fruits and vegetables are rich in minerals and vitamins like zinc, selenium, beta-carotene and vitamin C, which aid in the production of collagen.
Also, not forgetting protein rich foods, as low protein intake can cause tears, winkles and cracks in the skin. Protein-rich foods include eggs, lean meat, poultry and legumes.
Very importantly, say no to junk and try to prepare your meal. The unhealthy levels of sodium, fat and cholesterol in junk foods are not good for your overall health including your skin.
Lastly, do not underestimate the power of hydration. Drink enough fluid to prevent dehydration and enjoy younger looking skin.
10. Improper Skin Care
If you want to have a healthy and flawless skin, it is pertinent to follow a proper skin-care routine.
